Lladró presented the Children of the world figurine at the 7th Annual Smile Gala held in Los Angeles. Over the last two years the art porcelain company has been closely related with this charity organization whose mission is to cure facial deformities in underprivileged children all over the world. The Lladró family is very involved in this project. In fact, Ángeles Lladró has taken part directly in several missions, like the one to Kenya, from which she returned with many emotive memories.

Children of the world depicts five children representing the five continents where Operation Smile runs its missions, and was the center of attention at the gala. With the creation of Children of the world, Lladró has given Operation Smile a friendly, pleasant way of helping the greatest possible number of children to smile again.

During the gala Doctor Magee, founder of Operation Smile, made special praise of the Lladró figurine and thanked the company for all its support. The organization gave a gift of Children of the world to the actress Roma Downey and her husband, TV presenter Mark Burnett, in recognition of their ongoing collaboration with Operation Smile.
