Warriors who defended their lives fighting against other gladiators or against wild beasts to entertainment the public in the Roman arena. This sculpture speaks of men who defended their life with honor and fortitude, despite the circumstances they had to endure. Made in black porcelain, it is decorated with copper, dark grey and black enamels with metallic effects, combined with the aged silver luster in the armor. The shield is decorated with black luster with marble effect and the helmet is also decorated with aged silver luster. The sword, which almost looks like real metal, is porcelain. In addition, the piece comes with a removable metal mask covering the gladiator’s face which is held in place by an ingenious system of magnets. A truly unique work, striking for both its size and for the sculptural treatment.
