LLADRÓ AT THE 1824 SOCIAL CLUB, MEXICO CITY

Lladró celebrated its arrival at the 1824 Social Club in Mexico City with an exclusive launch event for members and VIPs.

Attendees were treated to a presentation of some of the brand’s most innovative and acclaimed porcelain lighting creations which form a prominent part of the club’s interior design.

At the heart of the double-height ceiling of the main lounge, called the Lladró Room, hangs the Niagara chandelier designed for Lladró by the renowned German-born designer Bodo Sperlein. This breathtaking creation is decorated with numerous handmade white porcelain fairies that descend along optical fibres with small points of light, creating the impression of a beautiful waterfall.

The event was attended by the celebrated Mexican designer Olga Hanono, who presented her new special edition “Huichol” versions of the lamps in the Firefly collection. Created for Lladró by Hanono in collaboration with the association Kauyumare, promoters of Huichol art, the forms and colours are inspired by the intricate techniques of this indigenous group in western Mexico. The lamp has been donated to the Museum of Popular Art in Mexico City and is currently part of the exhibition Arte/Sano that encourages dialogue between creatives and artisans.

The recently-inaugurated 1824 Social Club, located in the Mexican capital’s fashionable Polanco neighbourhood, is where style, sophistication, haute cuisine and a remarkable whisky collection all converge. The club’s luxurious interior is designed by the exciting new firm Taller Nido, fusing classical aesthetics with contemporary elements which makes the perfect setting in which to showcase our most innovative creations.

Our brand celebrates seven decades of revolutionizing porcelain this year and continues to be an ambassador for Spanish creative excellence. Lladró’s relationship with Mexico goes back to the 1970s, and this latest collaboration continues its recent success in this key growth market in Latin America with the opening of new boutiques in various locations within Mexico City.
