LLADRÓ AT DESIGN&ART FESTIVAL TOKYO

Lladró was part of this Tokyo event, where Jaime Hayon’s new creation Embraced made its Japanese debut.

The event, an exhibition entitled Poltrona Frau Tokyo Aoyama meets Lladró was a collaboration between Lladró and the leading Italian luxury furniture brand Poltrona Frau. It formed part of this year’s Design&Art Festival, a major design event held annually in the Japanese capital.

Showcasing our unique and modern porcelain art, the exhibition was held at the Poltrona Frau Tokyo Aoyama boutique in the bustling Omotesando district, a magnet for shoppers and tourists alike. Guests were invited to explore a luxurious space where the sensibilities of Spanish and Italian design techniques complemented each other.

The event was also an opportunity to unveil Embraced, the new creation by star designer and Lladró collaborator Jaime Hayon, for the first time in Japan. This charming and original character, playfully conceived using unconventional forms, depicts a figure that hugs himself with arms that wrap completely around. At once light-hearted and sophisticated, it represents hope and optimism, and reminds us of the importance of caring for ourselves, and of embracing our dreams and challenges

On display was a limited edition version decorated with Hayon’s distinctive and colorful illustrations, of which only 500 pieces have been released, along with regular editions in soft monochrome pastel tones of yellow and pink.

Also on display were pieces from The Guest, Lladró’s most iconic collection, also designed by Hayon. In the decade since its conception, this captivating character has served as a blank canvas for many celebrated artists to apply their unique creative styles.
Lladró’s involvement in this event continues our active presence in this key Asian market, where our brand’s reputation for traditional values, technical skill and innovative design is held in high regard.
