Lladró was the focus of an exclusive exhibition in Japan recently as part of the Osaka Joint Fair 2023.

Held to commemorate the brand’s 70th anniversary, this invitation-only event took place in the spacious and magnificent Dojima River Forum, an ultramodern convention hall in Osaka’s thriving Nakanoshima district, which offers breathtaking views of the city and the Dojima river.

Among the creations on display was Mokuren, an exquisitely crafted porcelain chandelier inspired by the white magnolia tree designed in collaboration with the renowned Japanese interior designer and writer Naoto Fukasawa. The warm, inviting light it emits is filtered through the translucent porcelain of its white flowers, each made by hand, generating an enveloping illumination. As complex in its structure as it is poetic and combining nature with craftsmanship, the design is the epitome of the qualities found in both Fukasawa’s and Lladró’s work.

After being unveiled to the world earlier this year at the Euroluce fair in Milan, Italy, the biggest lighting design exhibition in the world, Mokuren made its long-awaited Japanese debut at a special event at the Cosentino showroom in Tokyo.

In addition to this new collaboration, the special exhibition in Osaka featured over 500 other pieces by Lladró, including brand new collections and some of its most iconic and innovative creations in categories such as Lighting, Heritage and New Concept. Among these were Jaime Hayon’s new design Embraced, a charming character symbolizing the importance of self-care in the modern world, and The Guest, the iconic piece also designed by Hayon featuring collaborations with some of the world’s most exciting and contemporary designers and artists.
