LLADRÓ AT THE MGM SHANGHAI WEST BUND

Guests at the newly opened MGM Shanghai West Bund in the Shanghai Art District had the pleasure of discovering a range of creations by Lladró on special display recently alongside artworks by well-known Chinese contemporary artists.

The first impression upon arriving at the hotel lobby was a display of pieces from The Guest collection welcoming you and where you could feel the unique charm of the intertwining of porcelain art culture and fashionable art.

The Guest is Lladró’s most captivating character. Ever since its creation by the renowned designer Jaime Hayon, The Guest has been a blank canvas on which celebrated artists such as Tim Biskup, Kzeng Jiang, Henn Kim, Supakitch and Ricardo Cavolo among others, have intervened to tell us about their inner world.

The creativity and versatility of Lladró creations also decorated two of the suites of this stylish hotel, including Heritage, Design and a selection from the lighting collections. The portable Kokeshi, Ice Cream and Firefly lamps illuminated the rooms, creating a cozy atmosphere, while the Panthers from the Origami collection, the creations from the Bold-Blue collection and the latest piece by Jayme Hayon, Embraced, added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the room.

MGM Shanghai West Bund brings true entertainment and hospitality to Shanghai’s West Bund, at the heart of one of the city’s most exciting districts. The hotel, with an interior that blends oriental inspiration and modern aesthetics, boasts 161 stylish guest rooms and 58 suites as well as a selection of fine restaurants, a sky bar and rooftop infinity pool offering panoramic views of the breathtaking skyline of Shanghai. Design elements found in classic porcelain are weaved throughout the interior, while details such as the undulating lights echo the waves of the river.

Lladró’s porcelain creations were a perfect match for the works of art by renowned contemporary Chinese artists, which are also on display at the hotel. Despite their very different origins, MGM Shanghai West Bund and Lladró share a vision of maintaining tradition whilst striving to innovate and evolve with the times, and as a result the timeless individuality of porcelain and Chinese modernity shine in together in harmony through this collaboration.
