LLADRÓ INSPIRES A NEW POP-UP SPACE AT CARACAS DESIGN WEEK

Lladró has served as the inspiration for a pop-up interior space designed specially for Caracas Design Week by Orlando Carrero, the Venezuelan architect and director of OC Arquitectura.

Conceived so that visitors can enjoy Lladró’s handcrafted porcelain creations in a unique and luxurious environment, the space at Buddha-Bar at 212 Avenida Orinoco, the Caracas space of the emblematic Parisian restaurant concept, contained a range of the brand’s most iconic and innovate porcelain creations.

Collections on display included The Guest, which since its creation by designer Jaime Hayon has become Lladró’s most recognizable and versatile character, serving as a blank canvas for many the world’s most exciting contemporary artists to apply their creative styles including Paul Smith, Henn Kim, Supakitch and Tim Biskup.

Also featured was Hayon’s new creation Embraced, a playful sculpture of a figure whose long arms wrap around himself, symbolizing the importance of self-care in a hectic world. This sat alongside the innovative porcelain lamps from the Firefly collection, the warm illumination and organic forms of which are inspired by the glow of fireflies on balmy summer nights and make an ideal addition to any interior. In addition to these were the striking animal’s masks from the Fierce Portraits collection and the Origami Dragon, a commemorative piece that celebrates Lladró’s 70 years spent revolutionizing the world of porcelain.

Each of the Lladró creations chosen for the space, all of which are meticulously handcrafted and combine the highest quality materials and traditional production techniques, represent the search for sustainable beauty, establishing emotions and creating bonds that last over time. As the studio explains: “The installation is designed to be a place of contemplation and to create an atmosphere of relaxation and joy”.

Caracas Design Week aims to turn the streets of the Venezuelan capital into a showcase for creativity, innovation and design, combining the commercial with the cultural. The event is part of the international initiatives that Lladró has undertaken as part of its local action plan, which focuses on promoting creativity and craftsmanship and teaming up with renowned collaborators who lead the promotion of local art and design such as Orlando Carrero and OC Arquitectura.
