LLADRÓ PRESENTS SPANISH PURE BREED - HAUTE ÉCOLE IN JEREZ

The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) commemorated its 50th anniversary with a special event showcasing the four European Schools, Austria, France, Spain and Portugal, performing together and joined by the new International Riding School Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Art. During the gala, Lladró presented Spanish Pure Breed – Haute École, a handcrafted High Porcelain sculpture that portrays with utmost faithfulness and anatomical precision one of the world’s most prestigious horse breeds.

The Mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, represented the City Council of Jerez at the events held as part of the Gala celebration, and participated in the unveiling of the sculpture with the author, Ernest Massuet, and The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, Arturo Bernal.

Spanish Pure Breed – Haute École is a sculpture entirely handcrafted in the Lladró workshops in Valencia, and produced in a limited edition of 500 units. It is inspired by Spanish horses, the life and soul of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. The mission of the institution during this 50 years has been to promote the equestrian heritage of Andalusia, to select the finest examples of horses, to train haute école equestrians, to guarantee the future of classic and country dressage, and to ensure the continuation of the Spanish pure breed.

In this matte porcelain design sculpted by Ernest Massuet, the intense blue and gold that dominate the coloring of the adornments contrast with the whiteness of the horse’s coat, replicated with an extraordinary degree of detail including its defined musculature and braided mane, its gracefully arched neck and the subtle details of its lively eyes, further enhancing the sensation of realism. Equally worth underscoring in this exquisite work is the decoration: all the harnesses, the headstall, the breast collar, the saddle and the saddle blanket are richly decorated with golden luster, while the bits and stirrups are made in gold-plated brass and the reins and stirrup straps are made in natural leather.

This is the second creation coming from the relationship between Lladró and the Royal Andalusian School, after Spanish Pure Breed Sculpture in trotting position, also sculpted by Ernest Massuet in a limited edition of 500 units. Both sculptures show a shared passion for the Spanish pure breed, as celebrated during the V Schools 50th anniversary Galas on June 30 and July 1, and honours Lladró’s 70th anniversary.
