RESOUNDING SUCCESS OF NIGHTBLOOM BY MARCEL WANDERS AT ICFF IN NEW YORK

“A unique, improbable lamp, unquestionably one of the most beautiful objects I have ever made” Marcel Wanders

Design professionals visiting ICFF, the leading design trade show in the USA, recently held in New York, were completely wowed by Lladró’s new porcelain proposals, including decorative and functional pieces. One of the highlights of the presentation was the new lighting collection designed by Marcel Wanders, Nightbloom.

Other new creations such as the cool refreshing Ice Cream and notable additions to Firefly showcased the versatility of porcelain as a material that can be given all kinds of shapes and forms and evinced how the winning combination of handcraft and technological processes can produce unexpected, evocative and unique creations.

As part of the fair’s program of events, Marcel Wanders and Cindy Allen, Editor-in-Chief of Interior Design, took part in an interesting talk on the creative processes of the Dutch designer, who argued that “if we collect beautiful, meaningful objects we love, then we will manage to become a healthier society.” This definition can be extended to include Nightbloom: “A unique, improbable lamp, unquestionably one of the most beautiful objects I have ever made”
