THE GUEST COLLECTION BY LLADRÓ IS PART OF AN EXHIBITION IN YANGZHOU, CHINA

Lladró presents The Guest collection at the Museum of Guangling King’s Tomb in Han Dynasty in Yangzhou, China, where an exclusive exhibition called Elephant in the Room – Contemporary Art and Archaeological Findings has been inaugurated.

This exciting exhibition, which combines elements of Han Dynasty culture, Yangzhou lacquerware techniques and contemporary art, was the perfect opportunity for Lladró to bring its celebrated collection to the Chinese city. Ever since its creation by the renowned designer Jaime Hayon, The Guest has become the brand’s most captivating character and has served as a blank canvas for many celebrated artists and designers, including Paul Smith, Supakitch, Rolito and Henn Kim to intervene and tell all kinds of stories.

The exhibition features a number of pieces by renowned Chinese artist Kzeng Jiang, alongside his designs for The Guest collection for Lladró. Kzeng’s art showcases his cultural roots through traditional symbols such as Chinese facial painting or paintings of flowers from the Song dynasty, reinterpreting these elements in his own personal style.

Planned and presented by the Feiyi Project, the exhibition draws inspiration from the past to shape the present, intending to bring history, cultural heritage and contemporary art together in one place. It provokes its audience to reflect on issues such as the contrast between traditional and contemporary art, ideals versus reality and the balance between persistence and innovation.
