Lord Shiva is the god of meditation and art. Old Hindu literature records tell the story of Shiva showing yoga to his consort Parvati for the first time, while a dolphin in the river Ganges was listening. On hearing Shiva’s teachings, the dolphin was turned into a man, Matsyendra, also known as the Fish Kingm, who would later become Shiva Mahadeva Nath, the creator of yoga.
High Porcelain is an aesthetic category at Lladró. The creations in this collection are the finest examples of the artistic, creative and technical skills of the brand’s artists. The challenge of taking on such complex creations is further heightened by the unique style, the quality of the porcelain, the range of colors, the spectacular formats, the difficult composition and the virtuoso decoration.
Worth underlining is the bright bluish-grey color of Shiva’s skin, covered with ashes to let us know that the ultimate reality of life is death. Furthermore, many complex decorative techniques, like golden luster, were used to emphasize his majestic bearing.
Symbolism and craft go hand in hand in this High Porcelain creation, a true gem in its own right. The sculpture comes with a base designed especially for the optional piece Lingam (01001981), the sacred symbol used to worship Shiva and to aid personal growth. Lord Shiva is a limited edition of 720 units.
Shiva’s symbols and attributes are highly defined with a wealth of details: the trident is his symbol of power; the drum marks the beat of the cosmos; the snake that Parvati tied around his neck to prevent him from swallowing poison; the rudraksha beads, a sacred seed with medicinal powers; and the hair bun from which the river Ganges flows and the god intercepts so that it does not flood the Earth.
Spirit of India collection, captures the values and the attributes of the ornate and enthralling wonders of the Hindu iconography.
