LLADRÓ COMBINES ART AND MUSIC IN A PRIVATE CONCERT AT SHANGHAI BOUTIQUE

To celebrate Chinese Valentine’s day, last August Lladró newly refurbished Shanghai boutique hosted a private concert, exploring Love as the main theme.

Guests could enjoy a surprising combination of music and porcelain pieces, performed in a masterful way by young violinist Dai Qi, founder of Love String Horizon and invited as a soloist to the 59th Puccini Music Festival in Italy (2013), and pianist Gao Zihao, postgraduate student of the Piano Department of East China Normal University, first prize winner of the Beethoven Group of the fifth International Youth Piano Competition in Japan.

Musicians combined six classical and traditional pieces with six Lladró designs, to express different kinds of LOVE. The courage of love was represented by Betta fish’s delicate forms dancing harmoniously with the Romanza andaluza by Pablo Sarasate. Crazy love combined Dalí Sculpture and Czardas by Vittorio Monti. A special version of Song of Yue and classic Pachelbel Canon were chosen to accompany some of Jaime Hayon’s most recognized pieces: Conversation vase, a creation that arises from the fusion of love as a classic Lladró theme, and the playful sense and fantasy that the Spanish creative brings to his designs, and Embraced, Hayon latest character representing “the concept of looking after yourself”. While the origin of love appears for Princess of the waves limited edition and music from the classic motion picture Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Moon river by Henry Mancini. And the most typical love of Valentine’s Day, romantic love, was represented by Romance on the lake, a porcelain sculpture inspired by the work of Joaquín Sorolla, with the classic «La Vie en rose» (French for ‘Life in pink’), signature song of popular French singer Édith Piaf, as the perfect musical backdrop.

After the performances, guests were invited to a cocktail featuring Coral Centerpiece, handmade by the best artists in the Lladró workshops in Spain. Exquisite tableware combining a realist and a conceptual perspective to create original objects for the home.
