Lladró is presenting the brand’s new contemporary art project, conceived as a space of collaborations in porcelain with leading international artists, signing exclusive works in very limited editions. Lladró Art Editions is a gateway to new experiences: a unique creative space opening the doors to an exclusive VIP community, the Art Editions Club.

Javier Calleja, one of the most sought-after artists of the moment, is the inaugural artist invited to participate in Art Editions, with three works that convey his personal imaginary to the world of handcrafted porcelain.

Calleja has exchanged painting, drawing, and sculpture for Lladró’s handcrafted porcelain to create three original works that reflect his highly personal and unmistakable visual universe. Under the name You Choose One, Calleja has created a sculptural composition with three pieces of porcelain – Boy, Devil Cat and Angel Cat. Both Javier Calleja and Lladró know that their works generate emotions, trigger personal responses, and touch a different fiber in each spectator. Calleja does not try to explain his work because as he himself says: “Sometimes there is nothing to understand in my works, you only have to feel”.

Like all Lladró creations, the pieces from Art Editions are the result of a meticulous handcrafted process that takes place, from start to finish, at the brand’s headquarters in Valencia. The unmistakable big-eyes of the characters, so central to Calleja’s works and Lladró’s creations, unlike the rest of the piece handmade in porcelain, are in glass. A differentiating element that further enhances the expressiveness of the pieces with gazes that look directly at the beholder.
