LLADRÓ PRESENTS BLUE DESERT, A COLLECTION OF PHYGITAL ART IN COLLABORATION WITH LAPRISAMATA

Lladró ventures into its first phygital art project in collaboration with the artist Luis Toledo, also known as Laprisamata.

Blue Desert represents an ongoing expansion of creative boundaries beyond porcelain. This new addition by Lladró blends the tradition of handcrafted porcelain with the possibilities offered by digital art. The collection combines these two artistic worlds, centered around a skull as the common element: Lladró creates the physical work, handmade in porcelain at the brand headquarters in Valencia, and Toledo decorates it with his creative universe, interpreting it also virtually through the composition of 70 unique and different digital illustrations, available in NFT format.

Reflecting the firm’s commitment to innovation, Blue Desert proposes a symbiotic relationship that allows the artwork to be reflected in both mediums, as if looking into a mirror. The NFT represents the digital version of the artwork, while the handmade porcelain embodies the physical materialization of that digital expression.

Laprisamata is a Madrid-based artist who, thanks to his distinctive style, has become one of the leading figures in the international art scene. Fascinated by the immaterial and spiritual aspects of life, and how they are related and represented, he represents an arsenal where skulls, skeletons, faceless bodies, and solitary expressions, abstract and geometric forms all find a place. In his designs for the collection, he blends surreal and dreamlike elements with ornamental patterns referencing to different cultures, such as Hindu and Buddhist traditions or a starry sky inspired by Egyptian sarcophagi, the third eye found in Asian cultures or lines and colors inspired by pre-Hispanic cultures, merging with botanical motifs, nods to pop art, and a backdrop of traditional sacred art.

The collection will be available from the 1st March 2024 on Nifty Gateway, one of the most prominent international platforms dedicated to the NFT market, and also at lladro.com and WOW Concept shop Madrid. It will also be on display at the store from 1 to 7 March, to celebrate the month of art and design in the Spanish capital.
