LLADRÓ PRESENTS TWO DESIGNS FOR MUSEO THYSSEN-BORNEMISZA
Fusing contemporary design with art, Lladró presents two exclusive series for the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, one of Spain’s most important museums. Two different creations designed exclusively to pay tribute to the creativity and mastery of two renowned artists as Renaissance Vittore Carpaccio and abstract Sonia Delaunay, and two of the masterpieces of the museum, which have been handcrafted by the brand artists at the workshops in Valencia.
Lladró artists became inspired by the Renaissance master Vittore Carpaccio and one of the most famous and celebrated works in the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection: “Young Knight in a Landscape” (1505). Carpaccio’s taste for detail and anecdotal incident was the starting point to pay attention to two of the animals that appear in the painting: the long-tailed ermine and the common crane. Fusing aesthetics with functionality, they have been transformed into original chopstick rests with elegant and stylized lines.
The painting Simultaneous Dresses (Three women, forms, colors) (1925) by Sonia Delaunay is the inspiration for three bottles and their respective glasses: Woman I, Woman II and Woman III. Functional objects that preserve the forms of the dresses in which they are inspired, and the spirit of Cubism and the avant-garde that underpinned the original work by the Paris-based, Ukrainian-born pioneer artist and fashion designer. The intense colors and the pure and geometric forms complete the appeal of creations in which handcrafted porcelain meets the most innovative art. Only 25 of each bottle are available, making them truly special pieces.

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is one of Spain’s most important museums, and boasts one of the best collections of old masters of Western painting, with major works by Titian, Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Monet, Degas, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Kandinsky, among many others. The two exclusive series are a perfect gift for lovers of art and crafts which can be acquired in the museum store and in selected Lladró Boutiques.
