From screen to sculpture: our licensed character artistry
Every sculpture in our Pop collection begins with an official creative partnership. We work with licensors including Disney, Lucasfilm, Peanuts Worldwide, Pokémon and other internationally recognized brands to ensure that each character remains faithful to its original identity while being reimagined through porcelain.
The development of a new sculpture often takes months, and sometimes longer. During this period, our creative teams explore how the character's personality, proportions and visual details can be translated into a sculptural form. The goal is not simply to reproduce an image, but to create a porcelain work that captures the essence of the character while taking advantage of the expressive possibilities of the material.
Each universe presents its own artistic challenges. Star Wars creations often incorporate metallic finishes and precious-metal lusters that reinforce the distinctive appearance of droids, helmets and armor. Disney characters rely on highly detailed hand-painted decoration to recreate their expressions, costumes and instantly recognizable features. Peanuts sculptures, meanwhile, often depend on subtle modeling and carefully controlled surface treatments to capture the simplicity and charm that define Charles Schulz's iconic characters.
Once the design is finalized, our artisans begin the hand-made production process in Spain. Sculptors, mold makers, decorators and painters collaborate throughout every stage of creation before the sculpture reaches the kiln. There, firing at up to 2372°F permanently fixes the decoration while revealing the final colors and finishes. As with all porcelain creations, the sculpture naturally shrinks during firing, sometimes by as much as 15%, making precision essential from the earliest stages of development.
This combination of official licensing, artistic interpretation and hand-made craftsmanship is what defines our licensed character sculptures. Each creation reflects both the identity of the original character and the creative possibilities of porcelain as an artistic medium.
From faithful recreations to artistic interpretations
Some characters are recreated with extraordinary fidelity to their original appearance. The goal is to preserve the proportions, expressions and visual identity that audiences immediately recognize, while translating them into hand-made porcelain. Creations inspired by Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Grogu, Pikachu, Doraemon or Tweety belong to this approach, where craftsmanship serves the character's authenticity.
Other sculptures explore a more interpretative direction. Rather than simply reproducing the original design, they use porcelain, color and finish to reveal new dimensions of a familiar character. Metallic decorations, monochromatic treatments, precious-metal lusters and highly stylized surfaces become part of the artistic concept itself. Creations such as C-3PO, R2-D2 or Darth Vader Helmet illustrate how a character can be reimagined while remaining instantly recognizable.
The collection also includes creations that extend beyond traditional sculpture. The Snoopy Dome table lamp, for example, combines lighting and sculpture within a single design, demonstrating how these iconic characters can evolve into different forms while preserving their identity.
Within the collection, some sculptures are produced as Limited Editions, others as Numbered Editions, while many belong to our regular open collections. These different production approaches allow us to adapt each project to its artistic objectives, whether it is a highly exclusive creation, a numbered series or a character that remains part of the collection over time. In every case, the same hand-made process, decorative techniques and commitment to craftsmanship define the final sculpture.
Choosing the right pop sculpture for your space
Choosing a pop sculpture often begins with the character itself. Unlike many other sculptures, these creations already carry a story, a personality and a cultural connection that is often deeply personal. For some people, the choice is linked to a lifelong admiration for a particular universe. For others, it is tied to a memory, a favorite character or a shared experience.
Smaller sculptures can integrate naturally into desks, libraries, reading corners and personal workspaces. Creations inspired by characters such as Grogu, Charlie Brown, Doraemon or Pikachu bring a sense of familiarity and personality without overwhelming the surrounding space. Their scale allows them to be appreciated up close, where details of the decoration and modeling become particularly visible.
Larger sculptures often play a more prominent role within a room. Creations inspired by Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Queen Amidala or other Star Wars characters can become focal points that immediately attract attention through their scale, presence and decorative complexity. These sculptures are often displayed where they can be viewed from multiple angles, allowing their forms and finishes to be fully appreciated.
Personal spaces frequently inspire more emotional choices. Characters such as Snoopy, Tweety or Pikachu often carry memories that span generations, making them especially meaningful in living spaces where personal stories and interests are reflected through the objects people choose to surround themselves with.
Lighting also influences how a sculpture is experienced. Indirect natural light and warm artificial lighting help reveal the depth of hand-painted decoration, metallic finishes and precious-metal lustres. Excessive direct sunlight over long periods should be avoided, particularly for sculptures with delicate decorative treatments.
Scale and sightlines are equally important. Whether displayed on a shelf, console, desk or side table, sculptures are generally best appreciated when positioned at or slightly below eye level while seated. This allows expressions, decorative details and proportions to be experienced as they were intended.
For sculptures that incorporate metallic decoration or lusters, carefully considered lighting can reveal subtle reflections and surface variations that continue to evolve throughout the day.
When a pop sculpture makes a meaningful gift
Pop sculptures are often chosen because they connect with stories that people already carry with them. A favorite character, a memorable film, a childhood memory or a shared passion can transform a sculpture into a gift with a meaning that extends far beyond the occasion itself.
For lifelong Star Wars fans, a sculpture inspired by Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo or Grogu can mark a milestone birthday, a professional achievement or the beginning of a new chapter. These characters often represent much more than the stories in which they appear, becoming part of personal histories that have accompanied people for decades.
Disney-inspired creations are frequently selected to celebrate family occasions, new beginnings and shared moments. Their universal appeal allows them to resonate across generations, creating gifts that can be appreciated by both those who discovered these characters as children and those encountering them for the first time.
Peanuts sculptures occupy a particularly unique place within the collection. Characters such as Snoopy and Charlie Brown have accompanied generations of readers and viewers around the world, making them meaningful gifts for parents, grandparents and anyone with a lasting connection to the world created by Charles Schulz. Their timeless humor and humanity continue to resonate across ages and cultures.
Characters such as Pikachu and Doraemon often create a different kind of connection, bridging generations through stories that remain relevant to both younger audiences and adults who grew up with them. These sculptures can become especially meaningful gifts between parents and children, reflecting experiences and memories that are shared across time.
Because every sculpture is hand-made in Spain, these gifts combine emotional significance with craftsmanship. Whether chosen to celebrate a birthday, a family milestone, a new home or a personal achievement, they offer a lasting way to honor the stories, characters and cultural icons that have shaped our lives.
Stories behind our pop sculptures
Every character in our Pop collection arrives with its own story, visual language and cultural significance. Our role is not simply to reproduce those characters in porcelain, but to reinterpret them through a material and a craft tradition that invite a different way of experiencing them.
We are drawn to characters that have crossed generations and cultural boundaries. Some, such as Snoopy and Charlie Brown, have become part of everyday life for audiences around the world through decades of comic strips, books and animation. Others, including the heroes and villains of Star Wars, have shaped entire fictional universes that continue to inspire new generations. Characters such as Pikachu and Doraemon have achieved a similarly universal status across Asia and far beyond, becoming cultural icons recognized across different ages and countries.
Porcelain offers a different rhythm from the media in which these characters were originally created. Animation is defined by movement, film by narrative and illustration by the printed image. Porcelain invites a slower experience. It encourages attention to form, gesture, color and detail, allowing familiar characters to be appreciated from a new perspective.
This transformation begins during the creative development process, when our teams study how a character's personality can be expressed through volume, proportion and decoration. The challenge is not only technical but also artistic: preserving what makes a character instantly recognizable while creating a sculpture that feels complete and convincing in its own right.
Over the years, collaborations with designers, artists and creative partners have also contributed new perspectives to our work. These exchanges encourage us to explore different visual approaches and continually expand the possibilities of porcelain while remaining faithful to the identity of the characters we represent.
The result is a collection that brings together worlds that might seem very different at first glance. From galactic adventures and animated classics to comic-strip icons and beloved characters from contemporary popular culture, each sculpture reflects a meeting point between storytelling, artistic interpretation and hand-made craftsmanship.
Creating the right setting for a pop sculpture
Pop sculptures often become natural focal points within a space, but the way they are illuminated can significantly influence how they are experienced. Light helps reveal the depth of hand-painted decoration, metallic finishes and precious-metal lustres, bringing additional dimension to each sculpture throughout the day.
Warm, directional lighting is particularly effective in highlighting decorative details and surface treatments. This is especially noticeable in creations inspired by Star Wars characters, where metallic finishes and lustres interact with changing light conditions, creating subtle reflections and visual nuances across the sculpture.
The Snoopy Dome table lamp offers a unique bridge between sculpture and lighting. Combining an iconic Peanuts character with functional illumination, it demonstrates how a pop culture subject can evolve beyond traditional sculpture while maintaining the same attention to craftsmanship and artistic detail.
Whether illuminated by natural daylight or carefully positioned ambient lighting, pop sculptures reveal different nuances of color, finish and expression throughout the day. Thoughtful lighting allows the character and craftsmanship of each piece to take center stage while enhancing the visual richness that defines these creations.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know my Lladró pop sculpture is authentic?
Every authentic Lladró sculpture carries the Lladró logotype, which serves as the official mark of authenticity and origin. You will find this mark on the base of the sculpture. Additional marks may also appear and typically identify the artisans who participated in its creation.
For Limited and Numbered Editions, the sculpture is accompanied by the corresponding documentation and certification. In the case of our Pop collection, authenticity is also linked to our official licensing partnerships with companies such as Disney, Lucasfilm, Peanuts Worldwide, Pokémon, Doraemon and Warner Bros., ensuring that every character has been developed and approved through the appropriate licensing process.
What is the difference between a Limited Edition, a Numbered Edition and an open edition pop sculpture?
Our Pop collection includes sculptures produced under different edition formats.
A Limited Edition is created in a fixed quantity established before production begins. Once all units have been completed, no additional sculptures are produced.
A Numbered Edition is also individually numbered and produced as an exclusive series, following the specific production structure defined for that project.
An open edition remains part of the ongoing collection and is not restricted to a predetermined quantity.
Regardless of edition type, every sculpture is created through the same hand-made porcelain process and receives the same attention to artistic development, decoration and craftsmanship.
How do I clean and care for a pop sculpture with metallic or lustre finishes?
For sculptures decorated with metallic finishes or precious-metal lustres, such as gold, silver or platinum, we recommend regular cleaning using only a very soft cloth or a feather duster.
For sculptures with fully metallized finishes, avoid water and abrasive products, as these may damage the surface treatment.
If a platinum lustre finish darkens over time, it can be gently rubbed with a soft cloth lightly moistened with alcohol. Sculptures with metallic finishes should never be immersed in water.
How should I clean a hand-painted pop sculpture without metallic finishes?
Hand-painted sculptures without metallic finishes can be cleaned using lukewarm water and a small amount of neutral soap.
A soft-bristle brush may be used to reach delicate details and decorative areas. Cleaning is best carried out over a sink or shower area to ensure the sculpture remains fully supported throughout the process.
We do not recommend fully submerging a sculpture in water, as moisture can remain inside the piece for an extended period. Extra care should always be taken with delicate decorative elements.
Is the Snoopy Dome table lamp considered a sculpture or a lighting piece?
The Snoopy Dome is a lighting piece from our Dome lamp collection. It is created using the lithophane technique, in which light shining through translucent porcelain reveals engraved designs on the surface. In this case, Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown appear against a distinctive zigzag pattern inspired by the visual world of Peanuts.
Like other Dome lamps, it combines decorative design and illumination in a single porcelain creation. The integrated LED module allows the light intensity to be adjusted, while the rechargeable USB system makes it easy to place in different areas of the home.
Because the piece combines porcelain, metal components and electrical elements, care requirements vary according to the material. Porcelain surfaces should be cleaned according to their finish type, while metal elements should only be cleaned with a soft dry cloth. The lamp should always be unplugged before cleaning and electrical components should never come into contact with water.

Are Lladró pop sculptures officially licensed?
Yes. Our Disney, Star Wars, Peanuts, Pokémon, Doraemon and Looney Tunes sculptures are created through official licensing partnerships with the corresponding rights holders.
Every character design is reviewed and approved through the licensor's approval process before production begins. Once approved, our artisans reinterpret the character through our hand-made porcelain process in Spain.
These official partnerships form an essential part of the authenticity of every licensed character sculpture and ensure that each creation remains faithful to the identity of the original character.
