LLADRÓ AT BOUTIQUE DESIGN NEW YORK

Lladró recently showcased its lighting collections at Boutique Design New York (BDNY), the leading trade fair for the boutique and lifestyle design community.

Held over two days in the cultural capital of New York City, BDNY connects boutique hospitality brands and designers with exceptional retailers, experiences and products that cannot be found anywhere else.

Visitors to the exhibition space were treated to a display of the brand’s most innovative and original designs in porcelain lighting, among which were highly acclaimed and award-winning collections.

These included Soft Blown, a new collection that is the result of Lladró’s first collaboration with the Stockholm-based design firm Nichetto Studio. This collection is comprised of two lamps, the Afloat chandelier and the Airbloom table lamp, both of which are inspired by the convivial spirit of warm, sunny days filled with street performers and colorful balloons.

Hung at the center of the space was the award-winning Mokuren chandelier, an exquisitely-crafted lighting creation designed in partnership with the renowned Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. Its complex yet delicate and poetic form, combining nature with skilful craftsmanship, is inspired by the white magnolia tree. Its warm inviting light is filtered through the translucent porcelain of its white flowers, each crafted by hand.

Also in prominent position within the space was the Firefly collection, also the recipient of an award that was designed in collaboration with Olga Hanono. The celebrated Mexican designer has given this range of innovative floor, table and hanging porcelain lamps a new look with her signature style in black and metallic colors, creations which combine originality and aesthetic elegance.

Completing the display was the Ice Cream collection. The shapes of this playful set of portable lamps are inspired by the wavy curves of ice cream and by traditional Japanese paper lanterns, which play with porcelain’s translucent quality giving off an inviting warm light.

The showcase was organized with the support of ICEX, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, the national public body with the mission of promoting Spanish business and companies around the world and encourage foreign investment.
