EXHIBITION WELCOMES THE GUEST TO XI´AN, CHINA

An exhibition of Lladró creations, including The Guest collection, was recently held in Xi’an, China. Titled “Welcome The Guest to Xi’an”, the exhibition was held at the Ruii Boutique in the heart of this historic city.

Well-known designers, partners, and representatives from the media were invited to explore Lladró’s world of porcelain art and experience a unique sensory feast. A giant version of The Guest in red greeted guests as they entered the space, and chefs from Le Méridien restaurant in Xi’an presented a romantic afternoon tea inspired by Lladró’s Coral collection.

Ever since its creation by the Spanish designer Jaime Hayon ten years ago, The Guest has become Lladró’s most iconic character. It has served as a blank canvas for many celebrated international artists, demonstrating the infinite possibilities of handcrafted porcelain when combined with the best contemporary design.

Artists and designers who have previously applied their unique creative personalities to this irreverent yet distinguished sculpture include Supakitch, Henn Kim, Ricardo Cavolo, Paul Smith, Gary Baseman, Devilrobots, Tim Biskup and Rolito.

This isn’t the first time that designs by Hayon have been featured in Xi’an, as the designer brought his distinctive, avant-garde creations to the city through the Ruii Boutique four years previously.

This event is the latest in a series of recent successes for Lladró in China, which serves as an important hub for other major markets in Asia. The exhibition in Xi’an follows the openings of spaces dedicated to Lladró in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzen, Chongqing and Chengdu, all of which connect the brand with a customer base that appreciates the artistic elegance and innovative spirit of its handcrafted creations.
