MOKUREN WINS AN IF DESIGN AWARD

The Mokuren chandelier by Lladró continues to collect awards around the world, this time being announced as a winner of this year’s iF Design Award in the Product discipline and Lighting category.

The annual iF Design Award is organized by the Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, the world’s oldest independent design organization.

One of the most important design prizes in the world, the iF Design Award has been recognized as an arbiter of quality for excellent design since 1954, with the iF Design brand being renowned worldwide for outstanding design services. It honors design achievements in all disciplines, including product, packaging, communication and service design, architecture and interior architecture as well as professional concept, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI).

Mokuren was chosen for this award by a 132-member jury made up of independent experts from all over the world. It faced stiff competition from almost other 11,000 entries submitted from 72 counties, all in the hope of receiving this prestigious seal of approval.

The winners in each category will receive their trophies at the iF Design Award Night on 29th April at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin, the largest theater stage in the world.

This exciting news follows the same creation’s success last year at the Grand Prix du Design in Canada where it was chosen as the Platinum Winner in the Small Series & Hand-Made category and Grand Winner in the Product category, and at the DNA Paris Design Awards where it was named the winner of the Product Design award in the Furniture & Lighting category.

Mokuren was designed in collaboration with the renowned Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa and is comprised of an exquisitely crafted porcelain chandelier inspired by the white magnolia tree. The warm, inviting light that is emitted is filtered through the translucent porcelain of its white flowers, each made by hand, generates an enveloping illumination. As complex in its structure as it is poetic, and combining the organic forms of nature with highly skilled craftsmanship, the design is the epitome of the qualities found in both Fukasawa’s and Lladró’s work.

This latest achievement highlights the success and recognition that Lladró continues to receive for its innovative collaborations with renowned international designers and explorations into world cultures, and further strengthens the brand’s status as a leading exponent of contemporary Spanish design.
